Each year, fifteen university students from across Canada are selected to participate in the Senate Page Program. The Senate Pages are responsible for a wide variety of activities associated with the legislative process. Moreover, they are given a direct opportunity to further their knowledge of parliamentary affairs by exposure to the rich tradition of Canada's Parliamentary system and the Senate of Canada.

This Info-Guide is designed to help you navigate through the federal and provincial government programs and services that are available to promote youth entrepreneurship and employment.

The Community Access Program (CAP) Youth Initiative (YI) is coordinated by Industry Canada's Community Access Program and is funded through Human Resources and Social Development Canada's Youth Employement Strategy (YES).  CAP's youth initiative aims to provide employment opportunities for young Canadians between the ages of 15 and 30 - primarily students, recent graduates, or the under-employed or unemployed.

See the world and earn money at the same time! The Government of Canada has negotiated reciprocal temporary work permits with close to 40 countries for Canadians between the ages of 18 and 35.

These permits cover:

• Working holidays;
• Student work abroad programs;
• International co-op placements; and
• Young professional/young worker opportunities.

The Summer Company program provides hands-on business training and mentoring – together with awards of up to $3,000 – to help enterprising young people start up and run their own summer business.

Each year, the non-partisan Parliamentary Programme offers ten young Canadians the opportunity to learn about parliamentary government first-hand by working for Member of Parliament of all parties.

The Parliamentary Information and Research Service of the Library of Parliament is offering an internship program to Canadian university graduate students. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain work experience in the policy and legislative process in Canada from a parliamentary perspective with the main research service for Parliament. Each year four interns with specific subject specializations will be selected for the twelve-month program (September to August).

CIDA's International Youth Internship Program (IYIP) is an employment program for young Canadian professionals (ages 19 to 30 inclusive) that offers post-secondary graduates the opportunity to gain valuable international work experience.

Forum for Young Canadians is Canada's longest running and most successful youth program about Canadian government and our governmental institutions. Established in 1975, Forum is operated by the not-for-profit educational Foundation for the Study of Processes of Government in Canada. The bilingual and strictly non-partisan program brings approximately 600 students (aged 15-19 years) from across Canada to Ottawa in four separate sessions each spring where they spend a week on Parliament Hill to experience first-hand how Canadian government works and the values its promotes.

Exchanges Canada is a Government of Canada initiative that provides funding for exchanges delivered by non-profit organizations.

AFS Interculture Canada is an international non-profit organization dedicated to global understanding and community involvement through quality international programs for youth and for adults.

The Young Entrepreneurs Association is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization whose mandate is to support young people in business. Aimed at business owners 35 and under, YEA provides members an opportunity to learn from each other's experiences and take advantage of peer mentorship as they grow their businesses.

The Canadian Youth Business Foundation is a national charity providing start-up mentoring, financing and business resources for young Canadians, age 18-34, to create their own successful businesses.

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) is Canada’s lead agency for development assistance. It has a mandate to support sustainable development in developing countries in order to reduce poverty and to contribute to a more secure, and equitable world.
